"...abandoning
the rat race for an isolated Mediterranean island to learn to
fish and barter for your daily bread is one thing. Doing it as
parents of a newborn baby – your first – and a dog
called Tetley is a whole other kettle of fish..."

“ … wonderful
anecdotes pockmark Llewellyn’s writing, giving understanding
and insight that could only be delivered by an author determined
to change.” Newcastle Herald
“The
title of the book refers to his neighbour Nino, a sage character who
slowly, and almost by default, manages to impart scraps of wisdom to
his callow foreign friend. In his company and with Tetley lolloping
alongside, Llewellyn tramps the mountainsides, learning about olives,
goats, island history, local lore and gossip. And that means Rohan
is left with baby Louis and dopey Tetley in an isolated village where
she knows nobody and where her only neighbour, an older woman, treats
her like an unexploded bomb.” The Australian |
‘On
the surface, this book is a story about a sea-change. But … it’s
also about many other things: love; letting go; searching for a home;
coming to terms with who you really are while trying to become a
parent; learning to be self-sufficient; and finding what really matters
in your life. Finding Nino is an often humorous read.” - Sunday
Telegraph. “A
travelogue with a difference presenting the good, the bad and the
reality.” Gold Coast Mail

“Finding
Nino is
an honest, moving story of how Llewellyn struggles to build a new
life in a foreign land, learns to be self-sufficient, and discovers
how to be a parent. A great read for armchair travellers.’ Sun
Herald
“In
this thoughtful and honest travel memoir Marc Llewellyn and his wife
discover that their sea change to a remote Italian island creates
as many problems as it solves.” Marie Claire.
“When
I opened Sydney journalist Marc Llewellyn’s Finding Nino: A
Seachange in Italy I was expecting a pleasant read without anything
too original. Well, it was a pleasant but much more gripping read
than I expected. English-born Llewellyn … writes a good yarn … It’s
as much about the journey of life and the transformation of a couple
to a family as it is about the physical journey. However, for lovers
of travel books there’s plenty of juicy detail.”Sunday
